Here is a picture of my new classroom! I have 23 first graders from 16 different countries!! School begins on Sunday and I can't wait to meet all of them! The curriculum is similar to the US but the class takes Arabic as their language.

Relaxation method!
This is the pool on my rooftop! It has a great view and is a great way to cool down and relax both during the day and at night! Although I did get locked up here one night which was quite exciting! Luckily a friend in another building came to our rescue!

For the kids---dirhams
Practice those division facts! There are no dollars and cents here in Dubai. The money is called dirhams and one dirham is equal to about a quarter in the United States. So something like milk may cost 16 dirhams or 4 dollars. It takes a while to figure it out. Most dirhams come in bills like you see above.

I have arrived!!!
Hello Everyone!
I wanted to let you know that I am safe in Dubai and doing well. The 12 hour flight was not too bad, I watched two movies, one on the way up and one before I landed and I slept in between! The hot temperatures and humidity hit you right as you step out of the airport. Basically I am staying inside for another month until it cools down! My first few days here were filled with buying things for my apartment, getting my bearings, and meeting new people. I am still exhausted but have met lots of new people from my school and everyone has been great. The above picture is of my school taken from the balcony of my apartment across the street. Yes the sun is rising and yes I was awake, but at our first day of orientation today (work week starts on Sundays!) I found out that everyone was up that early!
